Attachment in the Classroom:

Children with a disrupted attachment can present with very confusing and challenging behaviors in the classroom. By becoming familiar with attachment theory and complex trauma, educators can better understand the origin of their student’s withdrawn, impulsive or aggressive behaviors. In this training you will learn:

Attachment Theory and Complex Trauma as a framework to understand the social and emotional development of young children.
Cues and Miscues: Behavior as the communication of a child’s inner world of thoughts and feelings
The Circle of Security as a framework to guide educators to support and co-regulate children who have disrupted attachment/trauma histories.
P.A.C.E.: How to be Playful, Accepting, Curious and Empathic: The tools for helping distressed children feel psychologically safe in the school environment.
